The Lexmark T640dn is a high-speed monochrome laser printer that is suitable for workgroups with medium-to-high-volume printing demands. It will print on a wide range of media, including plain paper, card stock, labels and envelopes. In addition to standard toner cartridges, you can use high capacity cartridges to both save money and increase your productivity. A duplex capability is built in to allow you to use less paper for print runs.
Design
The printer weighs 22.3 kg and measures 396 x 421 x 638 mm. The capacity of the standard paper input tray is 350 sheets including a 100-sheet multipurpose tray, and optional additional input trays can increase the capacity to 3,850 sheets. To facilitate the workflow within your office workgroup, an optional 5-bin mailbox is available. The printer features USB and ethernet network connection capabilities and is equipped with a 400 MHz processor and 64MB of RAM. The printer’s maximum monthly duty cycle is 200,000 pages, although Lexmark recommends keeping monthly printing volumes between 3,000 and 14,000 pages. The printer also does not have Wi-Fi connection capabilities, but an optional wireless print server is available as an add-on.

The printer has a time to print the first page of less than 6 seconds, and a print speed of up to 33 ppm. It features a maximum print resolution of 1200x1200 dpi. This printer supports a wide variety of operating systems, including Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac OS, Linux, Citrix, Novell and UNIX.
Disadvantages
The printer does not offer colour printing, copying, faxing or scanning capabilities, which would require you to purchase an additional printer if you need those functions. Some reviews faulted this printer for the quality of graphics in printed documents.
