Our Verdict:  

The Oki OkiPage 12i is a reliable workgroup printer that is suitable for small groups or for a power user who requires print speeds of up to 12 pages per minute. This LED monochrome printer can print in a resolution of 600 x 1,200 dpi in graphics mode or 600 x 600 dpi in standard mode. This printer is also able to deliver a printout in only 12 seconds from 'ready' mode. In addition, the Oki 12i comes with 4 MB of RAM and can be upgraded to 36 MB using a SIMM memory chip.

Design

The Oki 12i is relatively compact compared to other printers on the market with dimensions of 33.02 cm in width, 37.08 cm in depth, and a height of 20.06 cm. This printer only weighs 10 kg and is quite portable for any user. This printer has an input tray maximum capacity of up to 250 sheets and an output tray that can handle up to 850 pages. A parallel connection or an Ethernet cable are this printer's only means of connection and installation takes minutes to complete. Furthermore, this printer can only be installed on Macs, Windows 3.x, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0, and Microsoft DOS. Additionally, Oki 12i toner is also designed to yield up to 2,500 pages per cartridge at 5 per cent coverage.

Advantages

This model is able to output 15,000 to 19,000 pages per month without any problems. The Oki 12i toner printer also has an internal OkiLAN 310e+ network card that allows for it to serve as a print server for multiple computers. Another benefit of this printer is the ability to print on transparencies, spreadsheets, envelopes, reports, letters, and plain paper. In addition, the Oki 12i printer also offers low operating expenses, reliability, and exceptional performance.

Disadvantages

The Oki 12i printer is only able to print in black and white and does not offer colour printing. This single-function printer also does not offer a copier, fax machine, or a scanner.
