Samsung CLP-500 toner cartridges 

The Samsung CLP-500 is a colour laser printer aimed at the small and home business market. This printer is designed to be a mid range option that bridges the gap between home laser printers and costly business level printing solutions. The CLP-500 is designed to produce comfortably fast monochrome and colour laser documents at a professional level with options for expandability to handle more when necessary. The CLP-500 is designed for quiet and efficient operation both while running and in standby. Samsung CLP-500 toner is built to be low maintenance and easy to replace.

Design

The Samsung CLP-500 can produce up to 21 pages per minute in black and white and 5 pages per minute in colour. This printer has a resolution listed as up to 1,200 dpi, and holds up to 250 sheets of paper in the default configuration. Networking does not come standard, but is available as a separate add on along with extra cassettes and RAM. This printer supports automatic duplexing and has options for connecting through a parallel port or USB port. This machine will support A4, and postcard size documents only.

Advantages

Samsung CLP-500 toner is inexpensive and easily available through after-market cartridges, making it reasonably economical for long term use. Built in duplexing make this a good option for small business or home users that need quick monochrome copies using an older operating system and want the option of producing the occasional colour document as well. The CLP-500 has enough expandability to grow with a small business that notices an increase in printing needs for quite some time.

Disadvantages

Reviewers have had issues with the colour quality of the Samsung CLP-500 being lower than many competing printers, which may be an issue for anyone who needs more than the occasional colour print. There are many modern printers that will perform all of the same functions available on the CLP-500 with more supported paper types and a host of additional features. Since this is an older printer, driver support may not be as broad.
