Our Verdict:
Samsung has one of the best sets of monochrome and colour laser printers, which are in demand for their good performance and affordability. Among these offerings is the Samsung CLP-510 colour laser printer. This printer is an affordable colour laser printer, which is ideally suited for small and medium size businesses.
Design
The Samsung CLP-510 measures 51 cm wide, 47 cm deep, 40.5 cm high and weighs 32 kg. It can print up to 6 pages per minute in colour and 25 pages per minute in black and white. For the medium size business, it can handle moderate workloads up to 35,000 pages per month. Samsung CLP-510 toner cartridges come in the typical black, cyan, magenta and yellow toner cartridges. This printer achieves vivid images and crisp text with its high resolution output of up to 1,200 x 1,200 dpi. These can be imprinted onto both standard size A4 paper and special media such as envelopes and labels. It also features built-in duplex printing which automatically turns the paper over to seamlessly print on both sides of the paper. The Samsung CLP-510 comes with a 250 sheet paper tray and an additional 100 sheet multi purpose tray which can handle various paper sizes. Configuration of the printer settings is achieved using clear, easy to use buttons and a single line LCD display. Finally, the Samsung CLP-510 allows for USB, Ethernet, and wireless connectivity to computers with Mac, PC and Linux operating systems.
Advantages
The Samsung CLP-510 prints clear, high quality text and graphics at high speeds compared to other colour laser printers in its price range. The standard duplex printing capability is a nice added feature that can help reduce paper usage. In addition, the wide choice of connectivity options and support for all major operating systems make it a flexible printer for any office. The Samsung CLP-510 toner printer also comes installed with 64 MB standard memory which can be expanded up to 192 MB allowing it to handle large printing jobs.
Disadvantages
The disadvantage of the Samsung CLP-510 is that it can only print documents; it cannot copy, fax or scan files like a multi-function printer can do. This could be a problem in a smaller office with its tighter space constraints and smaller budgets, in which an all-in-one unit might be a better choice. The Samsung CLP-510 toner also cannot be output onto glossy laser photo paper.
