The Samsung SCX-4825FN is a 5-in-one monochrome network-ready laser printer. It prints, copies, scans, faxes and fully supports PC fax, which is a superb money-saver in business environments. It prints at a rate of 24 pages per minute and copies at a rate of 12 pages per minute. With the SCX-4825FN model, Samsung has managed to blend ease of use, high performance and reliability into a compact, lightweight package that is affordable to most small businesses. Of course, this multifunction unit works well for home use too, but its price may be beyond most home user budgets.

Design

When it comes to aesthetic and practical design, most manufacturers excel in one aspect or the other. But Samsung has a strong history of being able to balance both goals and that is especially apparent here. Functionally, the SCX-4825FN is a joy to use thanks to its simplicity and intuitiveness. This is a feature-rich model, but the well-designed GUI and control panel make all of those features accessible and responsive.

Advantages

The Samsung SCX-4825FN has a number of advantages over comparable models. It prints up to 24 pages per minute at 1,200 x 1,200 dpi, and it provides a monthly duty cycle of 50,000 impressions. It has a built-in Ethernet interface, and it is plug-and-play in all Windows environments. In most cases, Windows will fully support the machine without even installing the included software. But most users will still want to install the wonderful Samsung software because it provides an array of useful tools including access to the control panel via a PC, Mac or Linux computer.

Disadvantages

The biggest disadvantage to the Samsung SCX-4825FN is its price tag. The average printer in this class is less expensive, and some even manage to provide more pages per minute, although not nearly at this level of quality. Another disadvantage to this model is the noise level. It is not loud by any means but Samsung markets it as a quite printer and for many users, this is one of its selling points. If you are considering the purchase because of its quite operation, then you might want to hear it in action first. Your experience may vary but most users will not notice a discernible difference in sound between this unit and other comparable printers on the market.
