The M479dw Multi Function laser is being used to replace an 11 year old HP colour laser printer which has given me faithful service. Given the service from my previous printer, HP were natuarlly my first choice.

The M479dw is very well made, the plastic feel sturdy and is based on a solid chassis weighing in at nearly 25Kg when loaded with toners and paper, so make sure you have a sturdy table to put it on. The packaging was very good and it was easy to remove the printer.
The printer includes Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth, USB and Ethernet interfaces, so you should be able to use this printer with most systems. I am using it in a home office environment with Windows 7 / 10 systems, plus a couple of Linux computers, with Android mobile devices and Apple tablets. All devices were able to communicate with the printer withlittle difficulty, though a couple of the older Android devices required the Mopria drivers as the HP drivers would not install due to the age of Android being used, and Windows 7 required the download of drivers from the HP website (which unfathomably alwyas runs slowly when downloading).

Setup of the printer was easy, once it had an IP address I logged onto the printers internal web server and completed configuration (as an IT manager I find this easy, the guided setup which I have used with HP devices is also very easy, but gives fewer customisation options) in around 10 minutes.

My printing needs are not huge, around 2 reams a year, but when I need printing, I do not want to spend hours dealing with blocked print heads / dry printer ink, hence my use of laser printers. The print if clear, auto duplex, and fast, and the scans and copies I've doen are of equally high quality.

With the demise of the Samsung 6260 multi function printer, the HP M479dw is an excellent choice, especially with a 3 year warranty, and at it's current price around £350 inc VAT it represents an excellent buy for the office or for the home.
