Canon MultiPass C560 Printer Review

Expert review of the Canon MultiPass C560 printer

Our Verdict:
star
star-filled

Aimed at small offices that need a fuss-free multifunction device, the Canon MultiPass C560 is integrated with the necessary specifications that help users perform basic scanning, copying, faxing, and colour printing jobs. The Canon MultiPass C560 inkjet printer is a compact and lightweight machine, but is not efficient enough in terms of speed. The output quality may not satisfy the most discerning users needing high-quality printouts.

Design

At first glance, the Canon MultiPass C560 printer looks like a typical fax machine because of the numeric keypad, busy control panel, small display screen, and the straight-curved media path, until you realize that it is actually a multifunction printer. The MultiPass C560 is a space-saver because it is only 8.1 inches tall, 12.7 inches deep, and 14.4 inches wide, and fairly lightweight, weighing 4.76kg. Connecting the MultiPass C560 to the PC requires a parallel IEEE 1284-compatible cable.

Advantages

The Canon MultiPass C-560 inkjet printer operates quietly (only 45 dBA when operating) and the compact body makes it suitable for cramped desktops. It supports colour fax and scanning in 600dpi resolution. Media handling is surprisingly versatile; users can either switch between manual or automatic feeds so they can print banners, greeting cards, t-shirt transfers, and transparencies using the Canon MultiPass C560 all-in-one.

Disadvantages

The technology used in the Canon C560 multifunction printer is quite outdated when compared to the ones integrated in newer inkjet printers. Because of that, the engine is slow so the printer can only print up to 2ppm in colour and 5ppm in monochrome, and the print resolution is limited to 720x360dpi, which is only good for text. Pictures and graphics may not look too vibrant and detailed when printed using the Canon MultiPass C560. Compatibility issues with newer operating systems are also common. The fax machine does not come with a telephone handset.
