Dell All In One 922 Printer Review
Expert review of the Dell All In One 922 printer
This affordable all-in-one printer is aimed at a small office that wants to save space by combining scan, copy, and print features in a single device. But while it excels well in those tasks, the Dell All In One 922 lacks a few essential features that may prevent it from performing better in an actual office setting.
This multifunction device weighs only 9.9 pounds. It is surprisingly compact at 6.6 inches tall, 12.7 inches deep, and 17.2 inches wide. The display screen of the Dell All In One 922 is a 1-line 16-character type that is quite small and poorly angled, so it can be difficult to view. There is a flatbed scanner beside the control panel.
The Dell All In One 922 uses the tri-colour ink system and is integrated with Paint Shop Pro 8.0, which is very is useful for photo editing. The desktop preview feature is efficient. The scan and copy functions of the Dell 922 printer are also quite impressive The scanner's resolution can be optimised to 19200x19200 dpi. More importantly, this printer is Energy Star qualified.
The manufacturer markets this device as a 'photo printer,' but its lack of direct printing capabilities (i.e. PictBridge and media card slots) say otherwise. There is only one port for a USB 2.0 cable (which is not included in the package) at the back. The 8MB RAM is quite outdated and slow, causing the Dell 922 All In One to be sluggish. The LCD screen could have been positioned at a less awkward area. Also, the Dell 922 has compatibility issues with more recent operating systems.
