Dell All In One V505 Printer Review
Expert review of the Dell All In One V505 printer
The Dell All In One V505 is a reliable all-in-one device designed for a small office that are looking for a space-saving and low-cost solution to produce high quality photos and text documents. It delivers excellent graphics and versatility with a good selection of direct printing options, but it is difficult to install and operate.
Design
This is a sleek box-shaped device that weighs approximately eight kilograms and measures 17 inches wide, 5.8 inches tall, and 12.3 inches deep. The Dell All In One V505 runs on 32MB of memory and its print resolution is up to 4800x1200dpi. The device includes a plain paper fax machine, digital copier, and a flatbed 48-bit scanner. PC connectivity is via high-speed USB 2.0. The angled control panel is simplified with alphanumeric and navigational keys, one-touch operational buttons, and a mini display screen. Media handling is through a 100-sheet media tray, 50-sheet document feeder, and a 50-sheet output bin.
Advantages
PictBridge lets users save time by allowing them to print directly from a digital camera. The Dell All In One V505 can also communicate via Bluetooth with another compatible device. Faxing is a standard feature unlike in other multifunction devices from the competition. Two-sided printing is a standard feature for the copier. The Dell All-In-One V505 can print on a wide range of media types like iron-on transfers, transparencies, and coated paper. PC faxing is possible, and there are caller ID and fax forwarding features.
Disadvantages
There are no built-in networking features and the Wi-Fi interface is optional. The Dell All In One V505 is not compatible with Windows 7 and Mac operating systems. The memory and paper capacity cannot be expanded.
