Our Verdict:

The IBM 007 printer is an impact, line matrix printer that offers good quality prints for basic home printing. It offers decent print speeds and a total of three selectable print qualities, including draft, data processing, and near letter quality mode. The IBM 007 matrix printer is a high-function device and a good home printing solution for those looking for a standard printer that offers good quality outputs. However, the 007 ribbon printer only offers single function and is quite slow compared to more recent printers using more advanced technologies.

Design

The IBM 007 line matrix printer does not have any special design highlight, though it does have a multi language operator display panel for easy navigation of functions. It has serial and parallel interfaces, and a standard memory of 512 KB. The IBM 007 is also designed for versatile paper handling, able to handle different kinds of printing media.

Advantages

Simplicity is the main draw of the IBM 007 printer. It does not have all the sophisticated features that more advanced units have, but it does its job well. It prints at a rate of 475 LPM in draft mode, and up to 350 LPM in data processing mode, but higher-quality near letter mode takes 160 LPM. The 007 impact printer from IBM is an economical choice for undemanding environments. Furthermore, the IBM 007 ribbon has a long working life of approximately 40 million characters.

Disadvantages

On the other hand, it is an old model that does not meet today's high standards, but it is still a good choice for those who only require basic printing. The IBM 007 dot-matrix printer also has limited memory with a maximum capacity of only 512 KB.
