Brother Launches a New Monochrome Laser Printer, HL-2035

Brother UK has unveiled a new monochrome laser printer, HL-2035 that is targetted at small and medium sized offices and businesses. This economical printer has a small footprint and weighs just over six kilos.

Printing speed is average or just below par in its segment at 18ppm. The printer takes around 10 seconds to spit out the first print. It offers a best resolution of 2400 X 600 dpi.

One of the drawbacks on this printer is its inability to print duplex prints automatically. Yet another non-featuring feature that could avert offices from buying it is the absence of network connectivity. It gets connected through a USB 2.0 port, and if a need to networked, a print server would be additionally required to make it happen.

The printer is compatible with all builds of Windows, Linux and Mac 9.1-9.2, OS X 10.2.4 or greater.

The printer is not mounted with a LCD screen for viewing menu and the print jobs in the queue. Instead it had four LEDs for toner, drum, paper and ready.

The life of consumables is average at best. The toner is expected to print at least 1500 A4 prints while the drum is claimed to last for 12,000 A4 prints.

The HL-2035 is available in the market and is priced at £59 excluding VAT. This is a fair price considering that the printing is the most basic model of a monochrome laser printer with no extra features such as network-equipped, LCD screen, auto duplexing amongst others.
