Epson AcuLaser M7000DT2N Printer Review

Expert review of the Epson AcuLaser M7000DT2N printer

Our Verdict:

The Epson AcuLaser M7000DT2N is an A3 monochrome laser printer with ample paper capacity and reliable connectivity options for a small or medium-sized office. The compact Epson M7000DT2N duplex monochrome laser printer is fast and efficient for streamlining the workflow and improving productivity, but the expensive price and the absence of some features make it less reliable for some workgroups.

Design

This is a heavy and somewhat bulky printer that demands more installation space because it measures 518mm wide, 519mm tall, and 463.5mm deep. The Epson AcuLaser M7000DT2N A3 mono with full options has room for three paper trays, with the standard capacity being 1,230 sheets for the default cassettes and 150 sheets for the multipurpose tray. The output bin can handle up to 230 sheets. There is a small and slightly angled operator panel with a five-line, 22-character backlit LCD display. Connectivity is via gigabit Ethernet and USB 2.0 type B. The capacity of the black Epson M7000DT2N replacement cartridge is up to 15,000 pages.

Advantages

Two-sided printing is a standard feature. The 1200dpi resolution ensures sharper and crisper text documents and simple graphics. The Epson AcuLaser M7000DT2N is network-ready and supports a wide range of network management and printing protocols such as AppleTalk and SNMP. The printer supports a wide range of media sizes and types, including A3-sized sheets. The maximum input capacity is 1,230 sheets. The memory of the AcuLaser M-7000DT2N mono laser printer is upgradeable to 320MB.

Disadvantages

The black and white Epson M7000DT2N A3 laser printer is expensive to purchase and upgrade, and it cannot print in colour. It could be better if it had a host USB for thumb drives or a memory card reader. It takes 16 seconds for the AcuLaser M7000DT2N to warm up, which is longer when compared to some of its predecessors from the AcuLaser line. The M7000DT2N printer needs a sturdy surface for set-up and installation because it weighs 32.5Kg.
