Kyocera KM-5035 Printer Review
Expert review of the Kyocera KM-5035 printer
The Kyocera KM-5035 is a multifunction device with built-in duplexing and versatile and expandable paper handling. It is designed for high-volume usage and for offices that would like to lower their printing costs and streamline their tasks. Users have the option to upgrade it with a good selection of finishers and add super G3 33.6kbps fax. This device is expensive, a bit outdated, and bulky, though.
Design
The Kyocera KM-5035 measures 29 inches tall, 25 inches deep, and 23 inches wide. It weighs approximately 81.65kg. The standard paper sources are the 500-sheet dual sheet drawers and 200-sheet multi-purpose tray. The device runs on 64MB of memory, with an optional slot for a 20GB hard disk drive. The control panel has a large display screen and a minimalist set of controls.
Advantages
The Kyocera KM-5035 is a great workgroup all-in-one, especially when upgraded with the network print/scan system. Media handling is versatile, with standard duplexing for automatic double-sided printing. The Kyocera KM-5035 warms up fast and it can print in speeds of up to 50 pages per minute. There is a good set of finishers that can simplify the production of specific documents.
Disadvantages
Users need to download their own drivers to make the Kyocera KM-5035 work with newer operating systems. The Kyocera KM5035 is expensive as users who want to make the most of their device must pay more to upgrade it with the fax, finishers, and the KYOcapture application. This model only prints in monochrome, and the resolution is not enough to produce smoother and crisper images.
