  • I have self filled my printer with ink x 3 colours, but it still says ink has run out and won't print. Can you help? Regards, Steve.

    CL-541 ink refilling

Unfortunately, we do not recommend refilling these cartridges. It is also important when refilling any cartridge to refill it whilst it is low, rather than empty, otherwise you cannot bypass the low message. You may wish to remove the ink you have put in the cartridge and save it, by a new colour ink and then refill it when it is low. I cannot guarentee this would work but it is more likely to work for you than refilling a cartridge which is already reporting as empty.

  • Can you tell me the amount of medium quality prints on photo paper that you would expect to get from this Canon CL541 print cartridge?

Canon CL-541 ink for photo printing

This genuine tri-colour Canon CL-541 ink cartridge can print approximately 180 pages at 5% coverage of an A4 page. We cannot advise you how many photo prints you would get at medium quality as this would depend on your ink usage. For instance, if you printed a full colour photo it would be a lot more than 5% coverage on the page and therefore you could not expect to get 180 prints. The best way to monitor your ink usage should be through your printer as it should tell you how much ink the cartridge has left.

  • Will you be bringing out a compatible Canon CL-541 cartridge anytime soon?

    Compatible CL541 ink cartridge

We don't know of any immediate plans to bring out a compatible Canon CL-541 cartridge for this printer at the moment as this product is relatively new to market. As soon as we're able to supply a compatible CL541 ink cartridge we'll update our website accordingly.

  • Are there any cheap compatible ink cartridges that can be used as an alternative to this genuine Canon CL-541 tri-colour ink for the Canon MG4150 printer?

Cheap compatible cartridge to replace CL-541

Yes, although we don't stock a compatible CL-541 ink cartridge, we do supply a compatible Canon CL-541XL ink cartridge which can also be used instead of the genuine Canon CL-541 colour cartridge. The compatible CL-541XL ink cartridge is a high capacity tri-colour cartridge which contains more ink than the standard yield CL-541 cartridge. • What's the difference between the colour CL541 and CL541XL cartridges or the black PG540 and PG540XL cartridges for the Canon MG3250 printer?

    XL cartridges for Canon MG3250

The CL-541 and PG-540 are standard capacity cartridges as opposed to the CL-541XL and PG-540XL which are high capacity cartridges. Basically, they're exactly the same type of cartridge except the XL type contain more ink in them and offer better value for money in terms of the cost-per-print.

  • How do you refill the Canon CL-541 colour ink cartridge and PG-40?

    Refilling Canon CL-541 ink cartridges

Unfortunately, we don't supply a refill kit for use with this genuine Canon CL-541 colour cartridge, or PG-540 black cartridge, and wouldn't recommend refilling them yourself.

  • Can you please tell me the difference between CL-541 and CL-541XL cartridges? The same question applies for PG-540 and PG-540XL ink cartridges? Thank you.

    Canon CL-541 and CL-541XL ink

This genuine Canon CL-541 tri-colour ink cartridge is a standard capacity cartridge that prints up to 180 pages whereas the genuine Canon CL-541XL is a high capacity tri-colour ink cartridge that contains more ink and will print approximately 400 pages. The PG-540 cartridge is standard capacity whereas the PG-540XL cartridge is high capacity and contains more ink. This is the only difference between these types of cartridges, the XL cartridges have more ink.

  • Can you please tell me which cartridges are used by the Canon Pixma MG3100 printer because I can't find this printer on many websites?

Ink for Canon Pixma MG3100 series printers

Canon Pixma MG3100 is the name of a series of printers rather than a specific model number which should explain why not many websites list this as a model. We advise you to check the model number on the printer itself or in the user manual. We currently list two printers in this series (Pixma MG3150 and Pixma MG3155). These printers both use the same cartridges (PG-540, PG-540XL, CL-541 and CL-541XL) so providing you have a Pixma MG3100 series printer that was purchased in the UK then any of these cartridges, including the CL-541 colour cartridge seen here, will be compatible.

  • The Canon MG3200 printer isn't on your list. Does the CL-541 ink you supply work in this printer?

    Canon MG3200 series ink

Canon Pixma MG3200 is the name of the series rather than an actual printer model. We advise you to check on the printer itself or in the manual for the specific model number. We can only guarantee that this genuine Canon CL-541 ink cartridge will work in a Canon Pixma MG3250 printer that was purchased in the UK as this is the only printer we currently list in the MG3200 series.

  • I recently bought extra capacity black and colour cartridges from you. I have to say that the quality and life of the cartridges was astounding. Do you refill the cartridges or just sell new ones? If you refill, what's the price? Thank you, Peter Brandon.

    Refilled CL-541 cartridges

Thank you for your feedback. This is a genuine Canon CL-541 tri-colour ink cartridge. We do have our own Cartridge Save branded inks which have been professionally remanufactured so they are ready to install directly into your Canon printer to provide the same high level of performance and image quality as the genuine Canon inks. Unfortunately, we don't offer a refilling service that would enable you to return empty cartridges to us for refilling.

    Refilling Canon CL-541 cartridges

Unfortunately, we don't offer a refilling service or have a refill kit that would allow you to successfully refill this Canon CL541 colour ink cartridge. However, we do sell a compatible Canon CL-541XL high capacity colour ink cartridge which has already been professionally refilled and can act as a cheaper alternative to this genuine Canon CL541 tri-colour cartridge if your printer accepts the high capacity CL-541XL cartridge. • I've found the black cartridge for my Canon Pixma MG3250 printer but am unable to find the colour equivalent. Why not?

    Canon CL-541 colour ink compatibility

This genuine Canon CL-541 tri-colour cartridge is the correct colour cartridge for use in the Canon Pixma MG3250 printer. It's a standard capacity cartridge which is equivalent to using the standard capacity black Canon PG-540 cartridge. You can also use a high capacity Canon CL-541XL tri-colour ink cartridge in this printer which would be equivalent to using the high capacity black Canon PG-540XL ink cartridge. • I have a Prixma MG2950 which has 545/546 ink. When I look this model up it rarely appears. However the MG2250 does and this seems to take either the 540 or 545 ink. Are these inks interchangeable inks. I hope so as 540 are cheaper than 545.

    ink cartridge confusion

Those printers take different cartridges I'm afraid.

The MG2950 takes the PG545/CL546 cartridges. And the MG2250 takes the PG540/CL541 cartridges. Please see the below links.

  • this is my very first printer, it has run out of ink after only 28 A4 prints, is this normal?

    541 carridge

We would expect a standard size cartridge 8ml to print approximately 180 pages at 5% coverage of an A4 size page. It would also depend on the type of printing e.g. if you are printing full colour photos. If you have purchased the cartridge from us, i would be more than happy to look into this for you.

  • How much extra ink is there in the CL-541 XL cartridges compared to the standard type? Do they work out to be better value?

    Canon CL-541 extra ink life

Yes, XL cartridges are always designed to deliver a cheaper cost-per-print than the standard ones and the CL-541XL cartridge is no exception. This standard capacity Canon CL-541 tri-colour cartridge has an approximate capacity of 180 pages compared to a capacity of 400 pages offered by the Canon CL541XL high capacity tri-colour carridge. If you're looking for the best value then we would recommend the high capacity Canon CL-541XL ink cartridge, provided that your printer is compatible with this cartridge.

  • Do you have to change both the CL-541 colour cartridge and the black cartridge when black ink runs out on the Canon Pixma MX535 printer?

    Replacing Canon CL-541 ink cartridges

This genuine Canon CL-541 tri-colour ink cartridge only needs to be replaced when it runs out and you won't have to change the black ink at the same time unless your black cartridge is also empty. However, the Canon Pixma MX535 printer will require that this tri-colour CL-541 ink cartridge and the black cartridge are always both installed with some remaining ink within each cartridge in order for it to work.

    Canon CL-541 cartridge compatibility

This genuine Canon CL-541 tri-colour ink cartridge will work in your Canon Pixma MG2250 printer. The MG2250 printer requires you to install one black cartridge (PG-540 or PG-540XL) and one colour cartridge (CL-541 or CL-541XL). The XL ink cartridges simply contain more ink. Canon CL-541 colour ink compatibility

This original Canon CL-541 tri-colour ink cartridge is compatible with any printer listed on this page, which does include the Canon Pixma MG4250. You'll also need to use a PG-540 or PG-540XL black cartridge alongside this tri-colour CL-541 ink cartridge, or the CL-541XL tri-colour ink cartridge, in the Pixma MG4250 printer. • Hi, does the printer work with just the black ink installed or when the colour has run out?

Use of Canon CL-541 colour cartridges

The printers that use this genuine Canon CLI-541 tri-colour ink cartridge will require that both the black and tri-colour cartridges are installed in the printer and have some ink left in each cartridge in order for the printer to work. Therefore, if your Canon CL-541 colour ink cartridge has completely run out you will require a replacement to resume printing.

  • I was wondering whether the ink cartridges for the Canon Pixma MG4250 printer have expiration dates? A friend of mine had a HP printer which had ink cartridges that had expiry dates on and wouldn't allow the printer to continue using them once that date had been reached, even though there was still ink in them. Would this be the case for the Canon CL-541 cartridge?

    Canon CL-541 ink cartridge expiry

We only supply genuine Canon CL-541 ink cartridges that are well within their expiry date and have a shelf-life of at least 12 months. We also offer a one year warranty period during which you can return any unpoened Canon CL-541 colour ink cartridges for a full refund.

  • I like the look/spec of this printer however I need to know if I let the colour cartridge run empty that I can still print black. I have had a horrible experience with another manufacturer I don't want to be caught out again.

    Are cartridges coded?

    Thank you for your query.

I believe that on most printers you'll need to have both cartridges in working order and with ink in both for either cartridge to work and this is especially true on newer printer models.

You may be able to find if this is the case in your user manual. If you no longer possess this you will be able to find a copy on the internet.

I hope this helps but if you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact a member of the team.

    Canon CL-541 ink cartridge compatibility

This genuine Canon CL-541 tri-colour ink cartridge will only works in the UK printer models listed on this page. Unfortunately, we don't sell ink cartridges for non-UK printer models and can only guarantee that the cartridges we sell will work in a printer that was purchased in the UK.

  • Hi, I purchased some CL-541 ink cartridges from you for my mother. Unfortunately, they were the wrong ones. Could I send them back and get a credit note or replace them with the correct cartridges please? This was on the 17th September 2015. Kind regards, Ruth.

  • The ink cartridges in my Canon Pixma MX525 printer need to be re-aligned and I have no instructions on how to do this. Could you help? Thank you.

    Canon CL-541 cartridge alignment

The Canon Pixma MX525 inkjet photo printer uses FINE cartridges such as the original Canon CL541 colour FINE cartridge which combine the ink tank and printhead into one cartridge. For instructions on how to replace the Canon CL-541 tri-colour ink cartridge within your Canon MX525 printer you'll need to refer to the user manual which can be downloaded from the following page of the Canon website: http://www.canon.co.uk/support/consumer_products/products/fax__multifunctionals/inkjet/pixma_mx_series/mx525.aspx?type=manuals&language=

  • Which ink cartridges can I use in a Canon MG2200 printer?

    Canon CL-541 ink compatibility

Canon MG2200 is the name of the series rather than a specific printer model. We only list a Canon Pixma MG2250 printer as a UK model in the Canon MG2200 series so if your printer was purchased in the UK then this is likely to be the model number. We advise you to re-check the model number of your printer and ensure that it was purchased in the UK before ordering ink from Cartridge Save as we can only guarantee that this tri-colour Canon CL-541 ink would work in a Canon MG2250 printer purchased in the UK.

  • I bought my Canon Pixma MX394 in Oman (in the Middle East) and used 440 cartridges there as specified. Now I am in the UK and I have run out of black ink. I was informed on the internet that 540 cartridges are compatible with the MX394 but I bought a cartridge, have installed but the printer tells me that the cartridge is incompatible. What is the appropriate cartridge if I can't get 440 in the UK?

Canon Pixma 540 cartridge incompatible with Canon MX394

You will need to buy a UK printer or import the cartridges from Oman as cartridges purchased in the UK wont work in the printer and vice versa due to the regions being different.

  • Can the 240XL be used in the 540XL?

    540XL vs 240XL cartridges

Hello Bryan, thank you for your question. The 540XL cartridge is mostly used with the Canon Pixma range of printers, however I can't find any results for a 240XL range of cartridges, so I would not be able to provide you any information regarding them.

I ordered it on a Friday and would like to have it during the weekend in order to print out my children's work. However I would not complain if it arrives on the following Monday. It came on Saturday morning and the quality of the ink is great! Perfect for my purpose!

Very good, colour excellent but wouldn't expect anything less from Canon.
