Our Verdict:  

Canon ImagePROGRAF iPF8300S ink cartridges 

A versatile solution for large format printing, the Canon ImagePROGRAF iPF8300S is built for serious production, proofing, advertising, and photography requirements. It is one of the most reliable 44” printers in the market, providing high quality imaging, increased productivity, fast print capabilities, and 8-colour LUCIA ex ink set. It has a 160GB built-in hard drive – twice the capacity of the iPF8300. Canon ImagePROGRAF iPF8300S is best for retail signage, advertisements, portraits, and contract proofs.

Design

The production grade Canon ImagePROGRAF iPF8300S features a newly formulated 8-color LUCIA EX pigment set, which is said to be 20% better than the old version, allowing minimized colour shifts, smooth gradations, and better scratch resistance. It has a single media roll and a front output, plus an intuitive control panel on the right front side. It comes with a stand and a print catch, and weighs approximately 316lbs.

Advantages

One of the main advantages of this exceptional printer is its high capacity hard drive, which, at 160GB, can perform complex tasks for busy environments. Even the ink tanks of the Canon ImagePROGRAF iPF8300S have large capacities (300 and 700 ml), so maintenance of the ink reservoir isn’t that much of a problem. It has USB 2.0 and Ethernet standard interfaces, although Firewire versions are also at hand. Multiple print modes (including high precision, fast, and economy printing) make it versatile. The Canon Image PROGRAF iPF8300S also allows borderless printing, saving valuable time in trimming.

Disadvantages

The Canon ImagePROGRAF iPF8300S is only a few steps ahead of its predecessor, the iPF8300, although it still is a better choice for larger productions, especially with its 160GB memory.
