The Epson LQ-1050 dot matrix printer, a wide-carriage version of its predecessor, the LQ-850, is an advanced and powerful 24-pin printer that combines reliability with high performance. Continuous and single sheets can be fed through simultaneously, making it ideal for flexible processing, and its controls allow for micro-adjustments forwards and backwards in increments of 1/180 inch. With status monitoring built in, this is a perfect printer for any modern office space that can be got up and running straight from the box.
Design
The Epson LQ-1050 measures 23.8 x 14.2 x 3.6 in and weighs just 26.46 lb, making it light and compact enough for the busiest work environment with space at a premium. Print speed is 220 cps at 10 cpi and the unit is capable of handling up to 4-part forms, as well as envelopes and all standard business print sizes. Print resolution is 10 to 12 cpi depending on requirements, and the printer uses high-impact dot matrix technology to guarantee crisp, perfect monochrome output every time.
Advantages
Incorporating fewer dots to increase speed, the LQ-1050 can handle large volumes of input, making it ideal for an office environment that has a high turnover of printed material. Disadvantages
As the LQ-1050 does not include scanning and copying capabilities some users may find its use limited, and the lack of an LCD monitor can also be seen as a drawback.
