My printer is a Hewlett Packard Deskjet 840C. I'm wanting a colour cartridge of good quality colour as I do cards. Which one do you recommend as some are cheaper than others?

HP Deskjet 840C ink cartridges 

The HP Deskjet 840C is specifically designed to meet the demands for a reliable, user-friendly, and speedy colour inkjet printer. The Hewlett Packard 840C printer produces photo-quality images and laser-sharp text because of the technologies that HP integrated into the device, and versatile paper handling options allow users to be creative with their print jobs for work or for personal use. Unfortunately, the Deskjet 840C inkjet printer is quite old, so its claimed 'superb performance' may be sub-par according to today's standards.

Design

Integrated with HP technologies like colour layering and coloursmart, the HP Deskjet 840C colour inkjet printer aims to print pictures and documents flawlessly for professional needs. The HP 840C is USB and parallel compatible and uses drop-on-demand thermal inkjet printing method, plus HP PCL level 3 printer language. The Deskjet 840C printer runs on 2MB of RAM with a 48kb receiver buffer and weighs 5.5kg without the pens and power supply.

Advantages

The HP Deskjet 840C is compatible with USB connections for plug-and-play convenience. It prints images according to how they appear on the monitor, and photo-quality graphics are possible regardless of the media used because of HP Colour Layering technology. Black texts look sharp and laser-like for professional-looking documents. The HP Deskjet 840C inkjet printer can accommodate different types of speciality paper, so users can use it for their greeting cards, banners, labels, and transparencies.

Disadvantages

Print speed for black text is only 8ppm in draft mode while print speed for full-page colour graphics is sluggish at 0.2ppm in best mode. The highest resolution of the HP 840C Deskjet printer is 600x600dpi, which is quite low when compared to printers by other brands. Operating system compatibility is very limited to older versions of Windows (before Windows XP). Mac systems need a USB connection to sync with the HP Deskjet 840C colour printer.
