HP made this sleek photo printer for home and small offices that need a fast and efficient device which can produce true-to-life images. It is convenient to use with its direct printing capabilities and flexible paper handling features. Initial costs are low, too, but the HP Photosmart 1115 still shares the paper jam-prone paper feed with older models.
Design
The somewhat rugged yet sleek build of the HP Photosmart 1115 is distinctive for its rounded edges, front-mounted 100-sheet input tray, and built-in card readers. It is rather heavy for a single-function printer at 14.3 pounds, but surprisingly compact, being 17.1 inches wide and 14.5 inches deep, and 7.7 inches tall. The control panel is located to your right and it has a small display screen and colourful buttons.
Advantages
The HP Photosmart 1115 is often praised for its affordability and for being able to print crisp black text. The built-in card readers allow you to print directly from an IBM Microdrive, SmartMedia card, and CompactFlash. The HP Photosmart 1115 prints quietly.
Disadvantages
The 16MB RAM is insufficient, making the HP Photosmart 1115 somewhat sluggish. If you use the PhotoREt III setting, photos come out after almost 8 minutes of being printed. The paper feed is another problem. While it comes with a separate feeder for 4x6-inch photo paper, the HP Photosmart 1115 tends to pull paper the wrong way, causing frequent paper jams.
