Philips Faxjet 375 Printer Review

Expert review of the Philips Faxjet 375 printer 04 December 2012

Our Verdict:

The Philips Faxjet 375 is aimed at small offices that need an efficient copier and fax machine with a reliable and cost-effective ink-jet engine. It offers all the basic fax and telephony functions one could expect from a straightforward fax device, but with extra perks such as an answering machine, hands-free speaker, and the ability to send and receive SMS text messages. Unfortunately, the Faxjet 375 may not be the best solution for the growing business or a workplace that needs high-volume output.

Design

This compact multifunction fax machine is easy to set-up on a typical desktop without taking up a lot of installation space. The Philips Faxjet 375 inkjet printer comes with an actual corded handset unlike previous units where users are required to buy a separate handset if they wish to make the most of the device's telephony features. The control panel of the Philips Faxjet 375 fax machine looks busy but organised with a numeric keypad, QWERTY keyboard, and one-touch buttons. A single black Philips Faxjet 375 cartridge is compatible with this printer and is good for up to 500 pages.

Advantages

There is a 20-sheet automatic document feeder and up to 100 pages can be stored in the memory of the Philips 375 inkjet fax. There are 7 one-touch speed dial keys on-board and a speakerphone feature, while the copy function is capable of producing up to 99 copies from the original. The SMS function is a bonus on the Philips Faxjet 375 fax printer and it includes draft printing before being sent. The 4ppm print speed is reasonable for the size of this device.

Disadvantages

The SMS function of the Philips Faxjet 375 may be unnecessary for users who have their own mobile phones and the 2-line display is somewhat small and difficult to view. The QWERTY keyboard for messaging and storing data is too small. The Faxjet 375 printer could be better if it had higher memory and a modem that can go faster than 14.4Kbps in speed.
