Our Verdict:  

HP Colour LaserJet 1600 toner cartridges 

The HP Colour LaserJet 1600 is a personal printer that can be used to print colour and black and white printouts. It is a single-function colour laser printer that is able to print up to 8 pages per minute and has a monthly duty cycle of 20,000 pages. This printer is able to print in a maximum resolution of 600 dpi x 600 dpi and uses HP ImageREt 2400 to enhance images and reproduce colours. In addition, this printer uses a Motorola ColdFire 4e 264 MHz processor and has 16 MB of RAM to efficiently store print jobs. The HP Colour LaserJet 1600 is also energy efficient. It only uses 190 watts of energy during operation and is able to reduce its wattage to 13 watts during standby. This printer produces a sound emission of 47 decibels when it is fully operational and is connected via USB or Ethernet cable.

Design

The HP Colour LaserJet 1600 is designed in three-toned colour scheme that includes HP's signature silver and blue colours. The HP Colour LaserJet 1600 weighs 18.4 kilograms and has dimensions of 40.6 cm by 45.2 cm by 37 cm. The output tray of the 1600 is black and features an functional LCD control panel. Loading paper media is made possible through a pull-out tray that is located in the front-bottom of the printer. The total media capacity of this printer is 250 sheets of paper and it has two different media feeders. This printer is also able to print on cards, recycled paper, labels, plain paper, photo paper, envelopes, matte photos, and transparencies.

Advantages

The print quality on the HP Colour LaserJet 1600 is excellent. The colour output on the printer matches the pictures exactly and is a very useful printer for those who want to print photos. The price is very reasonable and it is one of the best in its class in terms of overall value.

Disadvantages

This printer is far from perfect and requires new HP 1600 toner cartridges rather quickly. In addition, the printer tends to cause colour contamination if it is handled roughly. Over time, the printer also can become easily damaged and cause ink smears on printed pages.
