The HP LaserJet P3005dtn printer is Ethernet network ready and provides excellent network laser printing. It is fast, efficient and produces high-quality output for a variety of media, from one-page documents to stacks of reports. It includes a 500-sheet input tray as well as a 100-sheet multipurpose tray utilising a broad range of media types and sizes. Supported paper sizes include letter, executive, legal, and 8.5 x 13-inch envelopes, and it can also support labels, cardstock, transparencies and bone, colour, letterhead, recycled and pre-punched paper.

Design

The HP LaserJet P3005dtn weighs 16.2kg and has dimensions of 42.5cm x 41.0cm x 31.0cm (width x depth x height), with an operating temperature of 15 to 32C and humidity of 10 to 80%. The printer standard resolution is 1200 x 1200 dpi print, and it takes 9.5 seconds to the first page out, as well as providing up to 33 pages per minute for mono prints and a recommended monthly volume of 1,500 to 5,000 pages per month. The control buttons include a graphical display with up to two lines of text, a back button to back up in menus or to exit menu, a Help button to give information about the message on display, a Pause/Resume button, and an Up-arrow button to navigate.

Advantages

The HP LaserJet P3005dtn can handle complex jobs easily with its 400MHz processor and 48MB of RAM, which is expandable to 320MB, and its high-speed USB facilitates the transmission of data speedily. The interactive Smart Printing Technology means that quality and reliability is optimised, and maintenance time is reduced, and the supported operating systems include Windows 98 SE, 2000, Me, XP Professional, XP Home, XP, Server 2003 and Mac OS X v 10.2.8, 10.3.9 and 10.4.3.

Disadvantages

The HP LaserJet P3005dtn printer is reliable and good value for money, but only supports monochrome printing. The recommended print volume for this printer is quite low at 1,500 – 5,000 pages per month which may not be adequate for the printing needs of some.
