HP Laserjet 1020 Printer Review
Expert review of the HP Laserjet 1020 printer 21 April, 2011
Our Verdict:
The HP LaserJet 1020 is a laser printer that is probably best suited for home use or in an office where space is in short supply. It is also a monochrome printer, therefore, having only one black ink cartridge. This printer is quite affordable both to purchase and to use, and supplies for it are easy to find and install. Small in size, it will fit almost anywhere. The duty cycle is 5000 pages per month, so it can meet the needs of most home offices, and in some instances, those of a small business. The printer is extremely simple to install and will work with a wide array of operating systems including Windows 98E, ME, 2000, and XP.
Design
The HP LaserJet 1020 printer is designed to economise much needed workspace. It can be placed on a desk, shelf, or any other small space that is deemed suitable. It is a great printer choice when space is an important concern. This printer measures 14.6" wide, 8.2" tall, and 9.5" deep. The 150 sheet input tray and a manual one sheet input tray are visible when the front panel is opened. Both of these trays have paper guides that are adjustable. The output tray is located on the top and has a paper support that folds out.
Advantages
In the pros column, you would have to list affordability and quality as two important reasons to consider this printer. The low price does not mean you will be giving up quality. The HP LaserJet 1020 is built to the same standards as other Hewlett Packard products. Other things that will encourage you to choose the HP 1020 include its small size and suitability for use in smaller spaces, its easy setup, impressive output speed, good print quality, and long lasting toner. In addition, replacement cartridges and accessories are readily available and easy to replace.
Disadvantages
Listed in the cons column would probably be the fact that this printer is not network ready, nor does it have a built-in duplexer. Its graphics print quality leaves room for improvement, too. Also, a USB cable is not included when you purchase the printer and has to be purchased separately, and although this printer supports several operating systems, it is not Mac OS X compatible.
