Philips LaserFax MFD6080 Printer Review

Expert review of the Philips LaserFax MFD6080 printer 06 June 2012

Our Verdict:

Ideal for managing routine office tasks, the Philips LaserFax MFD6080 printer, scanner, fax machine, and copier is a step up from the previous LaserFax MFD model, now offering network connectivity. It also increases efficiency with excellent print rates and offers savings in toner price, thanks to its eco mode. The Philips LaserFax MFD6080 network laserfax with printer boasts superior colour scanning and offers direct USB functions. It comes with built-in Ethernet connectivity. However, fax transmission is slow at 2.5 seconds per page. The MFD 6080 may also not be the most practical device for smaller offices.

Design

Larger than other MFPs from this manufacturer, the Philips LaserFax MFD-6080 laser printer still offers a 50 page ADF unit, 250-page paper tray, and a 125-page fax memory. Scanning resolution is 4800x4800 dpi (now a standard for most MFPs). The Philips LaserFax MFD 6080 also runs on a 33,600 bps modem and features USB 2.0 interface as a standard, with optional WLAN-dongle.

Advantages

Built for heavy document handling, the Philips MFD6080 offers excellent fax functions and laser printing features. It boasts printing and copying speeds of up to 20 ppm, although fax transmission slowed down a little, at 2.5 seconds per page. The LaserFax MFD6080 can also print direct from USB sticks, and offers stand alone scan functions to USB drives. The MFD6080’s eco-friendly mode is said to reduce toner consumption, allowing users to save on running costs.

Disadvantages

While the Philips LaserFax MFD6080 printer supports various operating systems, there are versions that can only use the machine's print function, like Windows Server 2003 and x64.
