Pixma MP250 colour cartridges see 1 answer

I've recently had some challenges with my Pixma MP250 printer. The CD downloaded successfully but it won't print even after trying two separate black cartridges. Is this because I didn't put a colour cartridge in the holder? Would you advise ordering a colour cartridge? Thank you.

  • Thanks for your enquiry. Yes, you'll need to install a colour cartridge, even if you don't plan to print in colour your Canon Pixma MP250 printer will not function without a colour cartridge being installed. There are two tri-colour cartridges compatible with your printer as listed above. The part numbers are 'CL-511' or 'CL-513'.

Canon Pixma MP250 ink cartridges 

Don’t expect business speed, and professional photographic finishes from the Canon MP250 All-in-One, but for an entry-level printer, scanner and copier, the MP250 isn’t far off the mark. Thanks to Canon’s patented FINE technology, the MP250 delivers impressive print quality, with 4800 x 1200dpi resolution. The printer also comes with Canon’s Auto Fix software that corrects common image problems such as red eye, and underexposure at the click of a button – effortlessly turning your amateur snaps into works of art. With the wealth of multifunctional, entry level printers available, the Canon MP250 inkjet printer is a fairly safe bet and is best suited for photographic printing as opposed to heavy text documents.

Design

The Canon MP250 inkjet is fairly compact for an all-in-one. It’s grey and white shell looks fantastic and the curved edges are a nice added touch. The paper input tray is at the rear of the printer and can hold up to 100 sheets. The control panel on the right of the printer allows you to make copies without having to be connected to a computer. It also displays warning lights if ink levels are low. Not only does the MP250 look great, but it’s great for the environment too thanks to its energy efficiency.

Advantages

For an entry-level printer, the print quality is fantastic. The PIXMA MP250 is reliable each and every time. Text documents look crisp with little fading, graphics and photo print also look great with little to no pixilation. Surprisingly, the flatbed scanner and copier produced equally impressive results making the Canon MP250 inkjet printer an ideal all-rounder.

Disadvantages

Although print speed is an issue, it would only really effect business users who need to print out large documents regularly, thankfully the MP250 is designed for the home market and as such is more than adequate. Asides from that, it would have been nice to see Canon look at additional network options. The printer comes with a single USB port for hooking up to your laptop or PC, adding memory card support and even wireless would have really pushed the MP250 above its competitors.
