Our Verdict:
The C4680 is a basic multifunction inkjet printer that is best suited for students or families who are looking for an all-in-one printer on a budget. The HP C4680 inkjet can print, scan and copy a number of different documents from photographs to basic text. With just a single USB port on the back, the C4680 is a quick and easy printer to set up and start using.
Design
The printer is made from a high-gloss black plastic, similar in design to HP’s current line of laptops. At the front of the inkjet are two memory card slots that accept SD, MMC, xD as well as Sony Memory Stick formats. The printer also has a practical 3.8cm LCD screen which controls various print functions. HP have made the C4680 extremely user-friendly, all tasks can be handled from the front of the printer, the paper feed and tray are combined together which flip away to expose the ink cartridges which are easy to remove and replace.
Advantages
Print quality is fairly good considering the HP C4680 inkjet printer is aimed at the low-end of the market. The quality of text and photographic printing are more than adequate for most users in a home environment. The copier is fairly impressive too with comparable quality to the printer. The option to print directly from other multi-media devices is a nice added touch and really sets the HP C4680 apart from its budget rivals.
Disadvantages
Although the scanner is fairly quick, the reproduction quality is poor. Colours look faded and images suffer from a greenish hue. If you’re looking to scan plain text documents then the C4680 should just about do the job, however, it would be wise to look elsewhere if you plan on scanning photographs regularly. Aside from scanner issues and lack of Wi-Fi, the HP C4680 is a solid home printer.
