Design

Measuring only 38 cm and 25 cm deep, the HP P1505N does not take up much room on a desk but retains the power necessary to be a long-time work-horse for your business or home office. The paper tray does fold out in the front that adds some depth to the machine, but HP does a good job of making sure everything is boxed up tightly without giving up speed or functionality.

Advantages

One of the best features about the HP P1505N is its speed. At 23 pages per minute and the first page printed in about six seconds, this machine flies. Not only does the P1505N print quickly, it is reliable. The pages are aligned correctly and the type is crisp, even at the fastest setting. You don't have to worry about smudged pages or lines down the page since HP's laser technology takes care of that for you. Three printing modes allow you to customise the printing density. 600 dpi mode provides Resolution Enhancement Technology for crisp text. FastRes 1200 boosts the dpi to 1,200 for exceptional quality, and EconoMode uses less HP P1505N toner for printing drafts. The networking capability of the P1505N has the ability to share print jobs with multiple machines on the network using its built-in internal print server port with 10/100 base-T network speed. The P1505N also comes equipped with a high-speed USB 2.0 port if there is a need to connect it directly to a computer or server. The built-in networked print server increases the price of the P1505N slightly over the P1505 but with the increased functionality, this addition is well worth the extra cost. Disadvantages

The P1505N would be overloaded in a medium to large-sized office environment. Having only one paper tray limits the P1505N to a smaller paper capacity causing you to refill the paper more often. Limited expandability also prevents the HP LaserJet P1505N from entering the mid to large-sized business environment. Also note that the HP P1505N toner cartridge yield is based on an international standard of a 5% toner page coverage, so if you are printing photos or pages with dark backgrounds, this rating will be significantly lower. Even as a sturdy monochrome laser printer, it lacks duplexing ability so printing on both sides of the paper is difficult.
