Here are a few simple tips for you and your colleagues to keep your energy high at work!
A dehydrated body can’t function efficiently and leaves you feeling sluggish leading to an unproductive day at work. You don’t need to drown yourself, but just have enough so your not thirsty and your urine is a light colour. That should do the trick!
Food gives your body energy to burn. Your brain and muscles require glucose for fuel so eating high-carb and high-fibre breakfast foods (such as oatmeal, cereal or whole-grain bread) will supply you with slow releasing energy to keep you going until lunch time. They also prevent low hunger which can lead to low energy.
A quick walk to the corner shop or even the other side of the office can make all the difference! Moving your body boosts energy levels naturally as it increases the amount of oxygen going to your heart, muscles and brain. This means a peak in productivity. Exercise also improves mental well being leaving you feeling happy due to the hormones it releases.
It has been scientifically proven that listening to upbeat music boosts your mood and energy levels. So put on a lively radio station to sing along to or pop in your headphones. And if your favourite song comes on, why not get up and have a little boogie – that should surely wake you up.
The strong peppermint or spearmint flavours of chewing gum can increase alertness and productivity. It is stimulating and the motion of chewing battles inactivity. So next time your in the shops, pick up a packet and see how it works for you.
