Winwriter 150C Printer Review

Expert review of the Winwriter 150C printer 01 September 2016

Our Verdict:

Featuring Inkjet technology and operating via wired connectivity, the Lexmark WinWriter 150C is a white personal printer of medium size. It is perhaps not perfect for small office use, but is reasonably sized for home use. With its vertical input tray and easy-to-use console, this particular Lexmark won’t be the fastest or most efficient printer, but its cartridges are relatively easy and cost effective, to replace.

Design

Measuring approximately 26.9 x 43.6 x 29.7cm and weighing 4.39kg, the Lexmark WinWriter 150C features a parallel interface. Its media capacity stands at 150 sheets, while it’s capable of printing a document with a maximum size of 9m. This particular model serves as a printer only, ensuring it’s easy to use and get to grips with. The printer’s input and output trays ensure that documents are created succinctly.

Advantages

The Lexmark WinWriter 150C is capable of creating standard documents, envelopes, labels and cards, as well as printing content on to transparencies and coated paper. Its print speed stands at 2 ppm for regular monochrome printing, 3 ppm for draft copy, or 4 ppm in colour, while the machine’s maximum resolution is 600x300 dpi for both black and white and colour. Its duty cycle is just 2, although the machine’s simplicity makes up for its lack of features; as a standalone printer, the Lexmark WinWriter 150C works well to fulfil its aims.

Disadvantages

Somewhat cumbersome compared to modern standards and relatively slow by comparison, the Lexmark WinWriter 150C would perhaps frustrate those needing to print numbers of documents in a relatively short time, while its print quality may not be as good as more contemporary machines. Its inability to connect wirelessly would perhaps cause problems within a modern office environment, while it is a little too big to be used in a small home office.
