Lexmark X4875 Printer Review
Expert review of the Lexmark X4875 printer
30 May 2012
The Lexmark X4875 is aimed at home users and boasts direct printing and all-in-one convenience. Engineered by Lexmark as a multifunctional photo printer, the X4875 is affordable and covered by good technical support. However, the Lexmark X4875 printer is not exactly cheap to run, and its overall output quality is not top notch.
The Lexmark X4875 is physically similar to most of the company's multifunction printers with its user-friendly control panel and an understated frame. The LCD display is small but adjustable, and beside it lies the CIS flatbed scanner. At the back stands the 100-sheet input tray, while the output tray sits in front of the machine, taking centre stage. The X4875 can be connected physically to a PC via USB or it can be shared by a network wirelessly.
The optional 6-colour technology can be integrated into the Lexmark X4875 inkjet printer for better photo quality printouts. The X4875 is Wi-Fi ready and can print directly from a PictBridge-compatible digital camera and memory cards. Users can preview images from a memory card using the colour LCD display on the control panel of the Lexmark X-4875, which can be flipped up for ease in viewing.
The Lexmark X4875 is expensive to run because of high-cost consumables. Previewing images from a memory card can be difficult because the device sometimes freezes and slows down. Output needs improvement because there are obvious lines on the photos. Production of the Lexmark X4875 has been discontinued, so it can be difficult finding support and replacement parts for it when required. The X4875 lacks Ethernet and a further drawback is the slow copier, which can only produce 4ppm in normal colour mode and 10ppm in normal black.
