Epson AcuLaser M2000DTN Printer Review

Expert review of the Epson AcuLaser M2000DTN printer 24 August 2012

Our Verdict:

Built for speed and efficiency in a small office, the Epson AcuLaser M2000DTN is a simple and fuss-free laser printer that comes with intuitive features like ASIC technology and an easy-to-maintain system. The Epson M2000DTN mono laser printer promises cost-effective printing and versatility for professionals, but it might not be the best choice for creative users who need to express themselves with colour.

Design

The Epson AcuLaser M2000DTN laser printer is quite heavy at 11.5Kg. The AcuLaser M-2000DTN printer is compact, though, measuring about 255mm tall, 390mm deep, and 378mm wide. Epson integrated a 300MHz processor into the printer, which is just right for the 32MB standard memory that it uses for speed for a single user. The main controls lie on the top right-hand side of the device.

Advantages

The AL-M2000DTN printer is often praised for good print quality and acceptable print speeds of up to 14ppm with the duplexer and 28ppm in draft mode. The Epson AcuLaser M2000DTN takes only 14 seconds to warm-up, and it can be shared by workgroups via Ethernet. Paper handling is quite versatile and paper capacity is generous at up to 800 sheets. PCL and Adobe postscript 3 are also supported by the Epson AcuLaser M2000DTN.

Disadvantages

Unfortunately, the Epson AcuLaser M2000DTN only prints in monochrome, so it may not be the best choice for creative requirements. Overall value for money is compromised by the expensive toner cartridges. The Epson AcuLaser M2000DTN monochrome printer is noisy as it emits up to 55dBA of sound during operation.
