The Kyocera FS-3140MFP+ is a monochrome multifunction laser printer with built-in fax along with the usual copy, scan and print functions. The FS-3140+ multifunction printer maintains network-friendly features like some of its predecessors, while direct print and two-sided printing capabilities help users save time and resources, but the speeds are quite sub par when bulk printing is concerned.
Design
Measuring 494mm wide, 545.1mm tall, and 497.1mm deep, and measuring 25.8Kg, the Kyocera FS-3140MFP+ laser printer resembles most of its predecessors in the same line, yet stands out because of the integration of the fax feature. It also runs on 256MB of memory with a PowerPC 440/667MHz processor, and a 1,200x1,200dpi Kyocera Ecosys laser print technology. A 50-sheet ADF sits on top of the flatbed scanner, which is adjacent to the busy control panel. Ethernet and high-speed USB 2.0 ports are provided.
Advantages
This is a well-connected device with Ethernet and a fax line. The Kyocera FS3140MFP+ A4 mono laser can print directly from a USB thumb drive or save scanned documents directly into the portable device. Paper capacity can be increased to 2,100 sheets with additional input trays. The duplexer is a standard feature in the Kyocera FS-3140+ printer. Security isn't compromised because of private print, SSL, and IP sec features. The device is also praised for lower running costs.
Disadvantages
The print speeds of the Kyocera FS-3140 multifunction printer are much lower than the quoted 40ppm, and it becomes slower when using less toner in ecoprint mode. Poor print quality in ecomode is seen, while greyscale graphics look too light. The high initial price is another drawback in this all-in-one device, and adding three more paper trays or upgrading for additional memory or an optional telephone handset means spending more for the FS-3140MFP+ printer.
