Ricoh Fax 1180L Printer Review

Expert review of the Ricoh Fax 1180L printer 16 January 2013

Our Verdict:

The Ricoh FAX1180L is essentially a multifunction copier which features a fax machine for easy business correspondence in a small office. PC printing is also supported, while timesaving features enable users to improve their productivity and workflow. The Ricoh Fax 1180L laser printer is sluggish and inefficient for high volume jobs, however.

Design

With a cube-shaped frame, the Ricoh Fax 1180L fax machine manages to be compact for a standard office desk. The Ricoh FAX1180L measures 380mm tall, 394mm deep, and 356mm wide, and it only weighs 11.5Kg, so it is easier to lift and transport. Connectivity is via USB. The machine runs on 2MB of memory and it uses laser print technology. The paper capacity is 250 sheets, while the output bin can handle 50 sheets. The Ricoh FAX1180L all-in-one cartridge yields approximately 4,000 pages.

Advantages

Fax is a standard along with PC printing and copy function. Users may scan coloured documents. The 50-sheet automatic document feeder, direct USB print, 40 quick-dial numbers, 250 speed dials, and fax forwarding are among the time-saving features of the Ricoh 1180L fax machine. Up to 125 pages can be stored in the memory of the Ricoh FAX1180L printer . On-board operation is possible, so the device can be used as a standalone copier or fax machine.

Disadvantages

The Ricoh 1180L laser fax is may not be suitable for high volume output because of limited paper capacity, limited media support, and sluggish print speeds. The Ricoh Fax 1180L mono multifunction fax can only print in monochrome and the quality of graphics range from sub par to mediocre. The 1180L fax machine lacks full telephony features. There are no options for networking and only Windows operating systems from 98SE to XP are compatible.
