INTRODUCTION

If you’re after a basic printer that offers exceptional quality, the HP Laserjet Pro P1102 is the printer for you. This reliable, ultra compact, mono laser printer is a real workhorse, producing crisp black and white documents at a very fast pace.

FEATURES

The first thing to note is that the HP Laserjet Pro P1102 is a monochrome printer and cannot be used to print colour. It offers very basic functionality: the fanciest thing it can do is duplex printing.  But despite this, we can not recommend it highly enough for those needing an efficient and reliable laser printer to churn out monochrome documents. It doesn’t offer wireless or smartphone connectivity but it does come with an optional European adaptor plug and is very quick and easy to set-up. Double-sided printing is a bit clunky: you need to manually turn the pages, which, let’s face it, is a pain.

DESIGN

The simplest of simple designs, the HP Laserjet Pro P1102 adopts what we like to call ‘The Toaster’ look: grey, boxy and slightly raised at the back. Due to its ultra compact measurements (34.9 x 23.8 x 19.6 cm) it will fit snuggly onto most desk tops giving you space for scanners etc. Paper is loaded into the input tray at the front which can hold up to 150 sheets of paper, and documents are conventionally fed out from the top. It also has four discrete rubber feet to stop it sliding around on your desk. Sadly this model only comes in grey.

PRINT QUALITY

This device Laserjet Pro P1102 is capable of printing very clear and crisp black and white documents, smudge-free at a rate of 600 x 600 dpi, and as fast as 18 pages per minute.

VALUE

The recommended HP LaserJet CE285A Black cartridges are very expensive at roughly £60 and only produce around 1600 pages equating to roughly 3.8p per page. However, much cheaper compatible toners are available for around £20 and can offer a capacity of 6,000 pages working out at 0.3p per page. A fantastic budget option.

PRICE WHEN REVIEWED
