Canon MultiPass C3500 Printer Review
Expert review of the Canon MultiPass C3500 printer
The Canon MultiPass C3500 is a colour inkjet printer with the ability to print, scan, copy and fax. It is designed for use in a household or small, perhaps home-based, business where it incorporates all office machines in one compact device. The machine is limited by poor printing speeds, which make printing a time-consuming task, as well as lack of paper feeding which means the machine can struggle with its various functions. Running costs tend to be high, with the machine uneconomical with ink and there is no alert to tell you to purchase more before it runs out.
Design
The Canon MultiPass C3500 has a monochrome printing speed of 6.5 ppm and a colour printing speed of 2.5 ppm. Connection is achieved via a parallel interface. A total of 100 sheets of paper can be stored in the feeder on the top of the device. Housed in a cool, white casing, this printer has dimensions of 40 x 36 x 20 cm. Printing resolution is 720x360 dpi for both monochrome and colour printing. An extensive control panel, including an LCD screen on the front of the device, gives easy access to all operations.
Advantages
As a multifunction printer, the Canon MultiPass C3500 houses a fax machine, scanner and copier as well as a colour printer in one compact device, making it easy to locate on a desktop or when space is limited.
Disadvantages
The ink efficiency of the Canon MultiPass C3500 is poor and as it does not tell you when ink is low, there is a risk of running out before fresh supplies have been purchased. Scanning quality is poor. As it only has one paper feeder for all functions, the machine frequently runs into difficulties. Printing speeds are low, making printing even a few pages a time-consuming task.
