Xerox Phaser 8500 Printer Review
Expert review of the Xerox Phaser 8500 printer
The Xerox Phaser 8500 is a solid ink printer designed for offices with low to mid-volume requirements. The Phaser 8500 offers decent print speeds, but graphics quality is average, at best. It is a basic colour printer that offers a network upgrade. The SIM card is a notable feature, which allows users to store configuration settings should the unit need to be replaced. The Xerox Phaser 8500 is a reliable colour printer that uses ink sticks instead of cartridges. Using solid ink is supposed to lower cost and improve graphics quality, but only the first is true with this particular model.
The Xerox Phaser 8500 solid ink printer is relatively compact. Its front panel holds the control buttons along with the LCD screen, where options and settings can be changed and managed. The LCD screen has a built-in back light so the unit can be used even in dark areas of the office. There is a USB port and an Ethernet configuration for sharing the unit over a network. The Xerox Phaser 8500 colour inkjet printer is even equipped with a SIM card for storing settings.
In addition to its innovative solid ink technology, the Xerox Phaser 8500 offers affordability and ease of use. Ink sticks are far cheaper than toner or ink cartridges, which equates to a lower cost-per-page output. Meanwhile, users can make further cost savings by turning to compatible Xerox 8500 wax sticks which can replace the original consumables in this machine. The Phaser 8500 printer offers versatile connectivity and a convenient control panel which makes it easier to operate.
The Xerox Phaser 8500 inkjet printer does not offer exceptional graphics and image quality. Print speeds are also not as impressive at 12 ppm and 11 ppm. Those in need of a faster, more capable device should consider other models.
