Canon Pixma MG2450 Printer Review
Expert review of the Canon Pixma MG2450 printer
The sleek yet affordable Canon MG2450 inkjet printer is an all-in-one device designed for home offices. With the Canon Pixma MG2450 inkjet photo printer, users get a cost-effective and versatile machine that can scan, print, copy, and support intelligent web printing technologies. However, the MG2450 colour printer is slow and the ink system is rather outdated.
Design
Weighing only 3.5Kg and measuring 145mm tall, 306mm long, and 426mm wide, the Canon Pixma MG2450 printer has a lightweight and fairly small footprint. It has a CIS flatbed 600x1200dpi document and photo scanner and a maximum input capacity of up to 60 pages in the rear tray. There is no display screen, but on-screen guides can help users navigate the device. Easy-to-read labels on the buttons allow fast on-board operation. Connectivity is only via a high-speed USB B-port.
Advantages
This device is compact, stylish, and creates high quality results at up to 4800dpi in resolution. The Pixma MG-2450 inkjet printer supports Canon's FINE cartridge technology for precise colour reproduction. There is an auto power on function that helps reduce downtime, while auto power off helps save energy when the device is not in use. The Canon MG2450 all-in-one inkjet printer comes with My Image Garden for one-stop creative photo editing. Smart Web printing is supported by this device, too. Media handling is versatile from envelopes to glossy photo paper and plain, office paper. Utilising the Canon Pixma MG2450 XL ink cartridges allows users to get more prints for less money.
Disadvantages
The Pixma MG2450 photo printer uses two ink cartridges with a minimum droplet size of 2 picolitres, so producing colour output can be more expensive. Double sided printing is manually done, and there is no option for creating borderless output. The Canon Pixma MG2450's overall running costs can be pricey for home users.
