With the advent of the Canon TS8052, the multi-functional full-colour printer comes of age in an increasingly networked world. Gone are the days when a dedicated and literally wireless printer churned out text documents alone. Now, even the small home office demands a machine that can copy, scan and print, and which allows documents and photos to be scanned and uploaded to the cloud and social media at the touch of a few icons or buttons. With the 'Print' app from Canon downloaded onto any smart device, the machine can be controlled from anywhere.

Design

Measuring just 14.6x12.7x5.4 inches, the Canon Pixma TS8052 also weighs only 6.5kg and so is easily lifted and placed on a convenient desktop in the office. Although designed with home office users primarily in mind, this is a thoroughly professional machine with a print resolution of 9600x2400 dpi and a mono print speed of 15 ipm (10 ipm for colour printing). Usefully, the six ink cartridges for the printer can all be separately replaced, saving on ink. The scanner is simple to operate and efficient, with a 14-second scan speed and 2400x4800 dpi resolution.

Advantages

It is the quality of the photo and text reproduction, along with multiple functions packed into such a small and compact body, which make the Canon Pixma TS8052 such a joy to own and use. It’s a real workhorse, but a physically attractive one too, with its sleek lines and smooth curves belying the efficient and durable high tech inside the shell. The LCD is unusually large and easy to see, making its operation easy, and the ability to remotely control the unit is an impressive feature too.

Disadvantages

Although the LCD has its admirers, it may be a little on the large side for some tastes.
