HP Officejet 600 Printer Review
Expert review of the HP Officejet 600 printer
The HP Officejet 600 is aimed at users that are looking for a space-saving multifunction printer for their office. HP combined a fax machine, scanner, colour printer, and a copier in one simple and easy-to-operate device with ample media capacity, but because of its shape and size, it is quite limited in terms of speed and versatility.
Design
The HP Officejet 600 all-in-one printer is a 6.8kg device with a basic fax machine, a TWAIN-compliant single-pass scanner and copier, and a colour inkjet printer. The desktop form factor makes the Officejet 600 compact at 14.1 inches deep and 17 inches wide, but it demands a little more headroom because it is 10.2 inches tall. There is a small LCD display screen on the control panel and it is properly angled for easy viewing. The media input tray can accommodate 150 sheets.
Advantages
The Officejet 600 all-in-one produces good quality text because of the black-and-white 600x600dpi maximum resolution. The HP Officejet 600 printer is notably compact, too, so it fits inconspicuously on a cramped desktop. The straight media path makes it less prone to paper jam. Users can easily operate the Hewlett Packard Officejet 600 because of the simplistic and organised control panel.
Disadvantages
The sheet-fed interface limits the scanner to single-page documents only, while the fax machine's speed is only up to 14.4Kbps. The HP Officejet 600 inkjet printer is quite slow, with the copier only able to do up to 2ppm in colour or monochrome, while the printer's speeds range up to 2ppm in monochrome and 5ppm in colour. There are no networking options in the Officejet 600 all-in-one. Connectivity is limited to the wired and outdated parallel interface.
