HP Officejet 710 Printer Review
Expert review of the HP Officejet 710 printer
With the HP Officejet 710, small office users can find an easier way to communicate and reproduce their documents in full colour. The HP Officejet 710 all-in-one printer is a scanner, copier, and fax machine built around an inkjet printer and integrated with HP's signature resolution enhancement technology to make it more versatile for creative environments, but the sheet-fed design can be limiting and the entire device could use an upgrade on overall speed.
Design
A desktop form factor makes this inkjet colour multifunction printer perfect for cramped and small spaces. Measuring 10.2 inches tall, 14.2 inches deep, and 17 inches wide, the HP Officejet 710 printer weighs about 6.8kg and looks simple with a curved frame and a small control panel on the left-hand top corner. There is a small display screen for viewing the printer, scanner, copier, and the G3-compatible fax machine's status. The HP Officejet 710 multifunction printer can accommodate up to 150 sheets in its autoload feeder.
Advantages
The HP Officejet 710 is a fully-integrated device that is compact and user-friendly. The device prints in 600x600dpi resolution for black-and-white documents so text output looks clean and sharp. Media handling is versatile as it can accommodate card stock, labels, and iron-on transfers. The Officejet 710 all-in-one features auto redial and document reduction, an adjustable feeder, and a 1200dpi enhanced sheet-fed scanner for single-page documents.
Disadvantages
Print speeds are among the major issues with the HP 710 Officejet printer. Producing only 2ppm in colour and 5ppm in monochrome, it is sub-par when compared to newer faster multifunction printers. The HP Officejet 710 colour inkjet is considered outdated by today's standards, too, because of the parallel interface, absence of post script support, the 14.4Kbps fax modem, and limited compatibility with older Windows operating systems like Windows NT 4.0, 3.x, and ME.
