Xerox have designed their VersaLink range of multifunction printers to work especially well for small and medium-sized businesses and workspaces. They offer smaller operations the same flexibility, versatility and productivity that larger companies and offices enjoy without taking up too much space and respecting a smaller outfit’s bottom line. With a 1.05GHz processor and 2GB of memory, the Xerox VersaLink B405DN is certainly powerful, and it includes Xerox’s unique ConnectKey, a smart workplace assistant designed to help with maintaining workflow, increasing sustainability and providing security. This machine also offers printing, scanning, copying and fax capabilities, as well as mobile printing and near-field communication (NFC).
Design
The Xerox VersaLink B405DN measures approximately 495 x 495 x 551mm and weighs roughly 22kg. The printer is neatly designed in a compact package, with a white and petrol-blue finish that looks smart but is simple enough to fit in with just about any office décor. There is also a 5-inch colour touchscreen display and control panel, which looks and works in much the same way as a tablet or smartphone. Mimicking the same intuitive feel of smartphone and tablet devices, this control panel allows for easier navigation of the multifunction printer, making managing jobs from the printer easier than ever, and it can also be customised according to the user’s most commonly used apps.
Advantages
The Xerox B405DN has a print speed of up to 45ppm in black and white, and a first-page print speed of just 8 seconds. Combined with a 55-sheet input tray and a monthly duty cycle of 110,000 pages, this makes it one of the fastest, most productive multifunction printers aimed at smaller and mid-sized offices or workgroups available. It is also future proof, with mobile printing technology available for use with Google Cloud Print, Apple AirPrint and print services for Android. There’s also an optional Wi-Fi kit available, as well as NFC technology and the more traditional Ethernet and USB connections. There are also many advanced print options available, including for booklets.
Disadvantages
Although the Xerox VersaLink B405DN is designed for use in smaller offices and workspaces, the size and price point of the multifunction printer will keep it out of range of some small and mid-sized outfits.
