The Brother MFC-J985DWXL is a multi-use inkjet printer that has the ability to print, scan, copy and fax to negate the need for several machines at home or in a small office. It is an A4 sized machine that has advanced paper handling features and can handle multiple pages. The compact design makes it ideal for those that require an efficient space-saving all-in-one, though the standard cartridges print fewer pages than the super high yield ones.

Design

The standard ink cartridges of the Brother MFC-J985DWXL provide for a print yield of 2,400 pages in black and 1,200 pages in colour, though this increases to 7,200 and 3,600 respectively when using the super high yield ink cartridges. Within the compact confines of the 420 x 341 x 172 mm dimensions, this Brother J985DWXL can handle different types of paper and has a tray that can accommodate 100 standard sheets.

Advantages

The Brother MFC-J985DWXL printer is capable of printing on both photo paper and standard plain A4, both of which can be used in the automatic document feeder in a batch of 20. It can print in both black and colour, which allows for crisp photographs. It is easy to control the range of features that it boasts, such as double-sided printing and enhanced photos, using the colour touchscreen. It has a Wi-Fi connectivity option that means it can be used alongside the Brother iPrint&Scan app, Apple Airprint or Google Cloud Print™ to print wirelessly.

Disadvantages

After using the super high yield ink cartridges (included as part of the package when buying the Brother MFC-J985DWXL), it may be difficult to go back to standard cartridges, which will increase running costs.
