Canon BJ-10SX Printer Review

Expert review of the Canon BJ-10SX printer

Our Verdict:

The Canon BJ-10SX is aimed at users who need a quieter, lightweight, and compact printer that they can easily bring on-the-go or use in their home office. The BJ10sx inkjet printer from Canon is user-friendly and well-built for longevity, but the outdated dot matrix technology and slow print speeds might not be suitable for the needs of the contemporary workplace.

At first glance, the Canon BJ-10SX printer doesn't resemble a typical dot matrix printer from its time, because its dimensions make it look like an old-fashioned laptop that measures 1.9 inches tall. However, the Canon Bubble Jet 10sx is a compact device with sophisticated dot matrix technology and an industrial rugged design. The BJ-10SX weighs 1.8kg.

The Canon BJ 10sx is simple and straightforward to use, with an easy-to-replace cartridge integrated with a printhead, so printhead wear issues are avoided. The device comes with a battery pack to make it highly portable. The paper feed is adjustable to accommodate envelopes and B5 paper. Printing in economy mode with the Canon BJ-10SX printer results to readable 18x48 text, so users can save ink.

Capable of printing at only 83 cps (characters per second), the Canon BJ10sx is quite sluggish when compared to modern printers. The outdated dot matrix print engine only prints in monochrome. The sheet feeder is prone to paper jam, and paper handling itself isn't too versatile. Users have reported error messages when they tried to print on legal-sized paper using the Canon BJ-10SX. Consumables are expensive.
