Our Verdict:

The Canon MultiPass is a multifunction colour printer which has the ability to print, scan in colour and fax. With good print speeds and a high standard of print, it is a useful addition to a home office, although you should be aware that any finishing options will need to be completed manually. The fax machine has a plethora of features to help streamline operations. Meeting a variety of energy standards, the device keeps to a minimum both the energy costs and the ecological impact of your printing. This is quite a bulky machine, so check the size of your space before purchasing.

Design

Printing speeds on the Canon MultiPass F50 are 17 ppm in black and white and 12 ppm for colour documents, while the printing resolution is 600 dpi in monochrome and 1200x2400 dpi in colour. Paper capacity of the input tray is 100 sheets. An automatic document feeder on the top of the machine can hold 30 sheets. The size of the printer is 44 x 58 x 32.5 cm. The design is of a white colour with a blue control panel which includes a two-line, 20-character display screen. Connection is achieved via a USB or parallel interface.

Advantages

The fax function on the Canon MultiPass F50 has an array of useful features such as speed dialling, one touch dialling, answering machine mode, an activity report and a distinctive ring pattern. By achieving compliancy in EPA Energy Star, FCC Class B certified, IC Class B, UL and cUL, this printer can reduce energy costs and limit the environmental impact of your printing.

Disadvantages

As a fairly large machine, the Canon MultiPass F50 may be awkward to find a place for if space is limited. There are no finishing options on this printer, so these will need to be carried out manually if required.
