Expert review of the Canon Pixma GM2050 printer
The Canon PIXMA GM2050 provides high-yield monochrome printing at a low cost per page. With a print yield of up to 18,000 pages, it has an easy-to-use refillable ink tank, refilled with mess-free ink bottles. The 350-sheet plain paper capacity is split between a 250-sheet front cassette and a 100-sheet rear feed, and the device also offers automatic duplex printing. Designed for a small office or home use, it is a multifunction device with printing and copying capability.
Design
The GM2050 measures 403mm x 369mm x 166mm (width x depth x height) and weighs approximately 6kg. It has acoustic noise levels of 52.0Db(A) and a print resolution of up to 600 x 1200 dpi. The monochrome print speed is approximately 13.0 ipm. The printer supports two-sided printing on A4, A5, B5, and plain letter paper.
Advantages
The GM2050 enables users to print wirelessly and from cloud-based services, such as Dropbox and Google Drive, via the Canon PRINT app for both iOS and Android. There is also an ethernet link for high-speed local connections, and the Management Information Base (MIB) means it’s simple to monitor print levels, ink usage and status through remote printer monitoring. It offers high volume printing without compromising on quality and it can also produce borderless photos in sizes up to A4 and can also print a 4 x 6-inch photograph in around 37 seconds.
Disadvantages
The Canon Pixma GM2050 is ideal for small businesses and home use and is one of Canon’s range of refillable ink tank printers. However, it is not suitable for larger organisations that have a higher volume or more complex printing requirements.
