Created with value in mind, the Canon MP272 inkjet printer doesn't disappoint. Whether you need to print documents, scan text books, or copy directions, Canon has it covered with their multi-functional all-in-one printer. The compact device has PictBridge technology which allows you to connect your camera directly to the printer; it also comes with an 'Energy Star' certification for its energy saving credentials.

Design

The MP272 is minimalist in design, the plain white case features an equally, non-obtrusive LCD display panel and function buttons which allow you to make copies without connecting to a laptop. The input tray has a respectable 100-sheet capacity; it also comes with a stylish, self-opening collection tray that automatically opens to collect copies and prints. Access to the Canon MP272 inkjet cartridges is at the rear of the machine which also houses the single USB port for connection to your computer.

Advantages

The print quality is fairly impressive, but what really sets the PIXMA MP272 apart from the competition is the quality of the scanner. Canon has left no stone unturned, installing a high-res scanner which produces fantastic results – images are clear, true to colour and have great resolution. The copier is equally impressive, not only creating quality replicas but doing so at a respectable speed.

Disadvantages

Print speeds are a slight issue with plain text documents taking around 7ppm, which could pose problems, especially if you print large documents on a frequent basis. The printer also suffered from some banding when printing graphic documents. There is also the issue of not being able to connect wirelessly, which would have made the printer even more flexible as a home printer solution.
