The Canon Pixma TR4551 is a colour, multifunction printer which uses inkjet technology and has the facility to print, scan, copy and fax. With a compact design, it is ideal for use in a small or home office, where the multiple functions, fast monochrome printing speeds and the ability to print from a number of devices will increase efficiency. The colour printing speeds are slower but will only be a problem if you need to print a large number of images. The LCD screen is not the easiest to read, but if you are controlling the printer from a smartphone or other device, it is unlikely to be a significant problem.

Design

The dimensions of the Canon Pixma TR4551 are 435 x 295 x 189 mm and it has a striking, white casing. Paper is stored in the front loading 100-sheet input tray and there is also an automatic document feeder which holds 20 sheets. Printing speeds are 8.8 ppm for monochrome documents and 4.4 ppm for colour printing, while the resolution is 4800x1200 dpi. There is a control panel on the left of the machine which includes an LCD screen. Connection is achieved via a USB interface or wirelessly from smart devices.

Advantages

With a front-loading paper tray, the Canon Pixma TR4551 can be set against the wall, maximising the use of space. The printer can be controlled from your smart phone using the Canon PRINT app, and duplex printing comes as standard. Documents can be scanned directly to the cloud and printed from a variety of locations including Google Drive, Evernote, One Drive and Dropbox.

Disadvantages

With just two ink cartridges, the Canon Pixma TR4551 may cause some ink to be wasted when one of the colours runs out as you only have one colour cartridge to change. Printing a large number of photographs will be time consuming, and the LCD screen is small.
