The Canon Selphy DS700 is a compact photo printer packed full with many features ideal for families who want to have an instant photo lab right in their own living room. The device is configured for direct connection to either a TV or a PC. This allows users to view photos and printer menus right from a TV screen. The Canon Selphy DS700 printer even comes with a remote control for accessing menus and options. Direct printing from memory cards and PictBridge enabled devices is also allowed, as well as printing from infrared cell phones. The unit, however, does not have provisions for battery operation and the lack of an LCD screen makes it impossible to select specific photos to print directly from memory cards or attached devices without a TV or PC. Instead, the machine prints all photo content off the memory device.
The Canon DS700 inkjet printer has a silver finish and stylish rounded corners for a more sophisticated look. It measures only about 8.5x8.5 inches, and weighs like a typical photo printer (4 pounds). The Canon Selphy DS700 colour photo printer has an auto sheet feeder and a fold-up paper tray. The feeder can hold as many as 20 sheets of photo paper, though only 1 sheet of sticker paper can be loaded at a time. The Selphy DS700 accepts different types of memory and picture cards, while PictBridge enabled cameras and camcorders can also be connected to the DS700. An infrared port can be found on one side of the unit for receiving data from infrared phones.
On the plus side, the Canon Selphy DS700 compact photo printer produces high quality pictures, with a maximum resolution of up to 4800x1200 dpi. The DS700 family photo printer prints on different types and sizes of media, including photo stickers and standard or glossy photo paper. It also uses a hassle-free four colour tank, which makes it easier to reload the Canon Selphy DS700 ink.
However, the Canon Selphy DS-700 photo printer does not offer battery support, and other settings are only accessible when the printer is connected to a computer or TV. The unit, however, has three buttons for powering on the device, resuming or cancelling prints, and for printing all photos from memory cards without a PC or TV.
