Epson FX-2190II Printer Review
Expert review of the Epson FX-2190II printer
The Epson FX219011 is a nine-pin, low TCO, high volume 136-column dot matrix printer that is designed for speedy and reliable printing. It is Energy Star compliant to meet energy efficiency standards. This is one of the models in Epson’s new range of dot matrix printers and has improved reliability by 25% to 25,000 power-on hours, which means it is an excellent choice for challenging conditions when it is not practical to spend time on regular maintenance. It offers a UDS (ultra-speed draft) speed of 738 characters per second at 12 characters per inch, making a tangible difference to high volume print runs, including stock reports, freight documents and large batches of invoices.
Design
This printer has a refreshed, contemporary new design with a smaller footprint, which makes it easy to fit in a business environment. It weighs in at 8.37kg and features dimensions of 414mm x 438mm x 382mm (width x depth x height). Its document feed facility allows single sheets at the front and rear, with continuous paper from both and paper output from the rear. With a printing resolution of 240 x 144 dpi, it has a printing speed for HighSpeed-Draft of 10 cpi: 612 characters, a Draft speed of 10 cpi: 463 characters and an Ultra-Speed Draft equalling 12 cpi: 739 characters.
Advantages
This model’s small footprint makes it easy to place in any environment. It also completes high volume print runs faster than previous models and has market-leading print speed and low TCO, which means cost-effective, long-lasting consumables and low power usage. It also includes EPSON ESC/P IBM PPDS and MICROLINE printer languages and features an intuitive control panel that makes set up and operation simple.
Disadvantages
The Dot Matrix printer is a specifically engineered printer that is suitable for only specific tasks and is therefore not suitable for general printing requirements.
