The Epson LQ-500 is a dot matrix printer that uses 24 pins. This printer can deliver both graphics and text documents and it comes with a cut sheet feeder for easy handling. The Epson LQ-500 uses ribbon cartridges but only in black, print heads usually have a life of 200 million strokes. This printer can handle single sheets or continuous sheets. The Epson LQ-500 impact printer is outdated and has been replaced by modern models.

Design

Measuring 139 x 390 x 320 mm and weighing 7 kg, the Epson LQ500 printer is very easy to place on desks or fit into storage. This single-cartridge unit has a print speed of 150 characters / second on draft mode and 50 characters / second on letter quality. The Epson LQ-500 can handle continuous paper of three copies, one original and two copies. For connectivity, there is a parallel port.

Advantages

Accounting offices and older businesses usually use matrix printers like the Epson LQ-500 for their reliability and durability. This 24-pin Epson LQ500 dot-matrix printer can deliver solid continuous prints minus the hassle of frequent maintenance. The LQ-500 ribbon printer is very easy to use and setup. Running costs are cheap as the inexpensive LQ500 ribbon cartridges are long-lasting.

Disadvantages

Since the Epson LQ 500 is old, it only offers parallel connectivity and lacks a modern USB port. Print speed is a bit slow especially when compared to other dot matrix printers. This outdated unit can only work on a limited number of operating systems and may not be compatible with new ones.
