Epson LX-300+ Printer Review
Expert review of the Epson LX-300+ printer
The compact Epson LX-300+ is an affordable 9-pin dot matrix printer that is highly productive and reliable. It can handle a wide range of media – even multiple-page forms as thick as 5 layers. On draft mode, the Epson LX-300+ printer is fairly quick and delivers decent quality output. Like many dot matrix printers, however, this model has been discontinued. The LX300+ only works on older Windows operating systems.
Design
The compact Epson LX-300+ dot-matrix printer measures 6.26 x 14.42 x 10.84 inches and weighs 9.7 lbs. This printer has a vertical input tray and can handle continuous paper. The Epson LX-300+ impact printer has a parallel interface on the back and a control panel on the front. Print speed can go as fast as 300 cps.
Advantages
With the Epson LX-300+, users can expect good quality output delivered at quick speeds. This dot matrix printer is quiet and takes up a small footprint. Ribbons for the Epson LX-300+ are cheap and can last a long time, unlike expensive ink toners and cartridges. The LX300+ dot-matrix printer can also use a colour ribbon for low-cost colour output. To keep power consumption to a minimum, the Epson LX-300 Plus has a sleep mode when it is idle.
Disadvantages
The trouble with a dot matrix printer is finding supplies. Most have been discontinued and parts are rare. The Epson LX-300+ colour dot-matrix printer does not support Linux and Macintosh.
